The voluntary examination of Catherine Oudle of Ferryland in the sd. District, single woman taken on Oath before Robt Carter and Nichl Brand Esqr—two of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace in & for the sd. District, this 3d Day of April 1791 ~

Who saith, that she is now with Child and that the said Child is likely to be born a Bastard & to be chargeable to the District of Ferryland and John Murray Senior of Ferryland, in the District, Fisherman, is the Father of the said Child

The Court Ordered John Murry to appear & give bond for the maintenance of the Child ~

25 April 1791

Catherine Audle being delivered of a male Bastard Child, the following order of filiation & maintenance was issued ~

The Order of Robt Carter and Nichl Brand Esqrs~

two of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the
sd District, made 25th. of April 1791 -

Concerning a male Bastard Child lately Born in the Harbor of Ferryland, of the Body of Catherine Audle single woman ~

Whereas it appears unto us ye sd Justices that the sd. Catherine Audle on ye 22d. Inst. was delivered of a male Bastard Child & that the sd Bastard is now chargeable on this Harbor & that Jno Murry of this Harbour did beget the sd Bastard.

And whereas the sd Murry hath appeard before us & hath not shewd sufficient Cause why he should not be the reputed Father of the Child—we therefore upon the examination of the Circumstances, as well as upon the Oath of the sd Catherine Audle dohereby ajudge him ye sd Jno Murry to be the reputed Father of the sd. Bastard Child—And thereupon we do Order, for the sustenance of the sd Child, that Jno Murry dopay upon Notice of this our Order the sum of ten shillings, into the hands of Robt Carter Esqr. toward the Laying in of the sd Catherine Audle & ye maintenance of ye sd Child, to the time of making this Order -

And we do further order ye sd Jno Murry topay or Cause to be paid, into the hands of Robt Carter Esqr.- the sum of two shillings weekly & ever[y] week from this present time for the maintenance of the sd. Child-so long as the Child shall be chargeable to the sd. Harbour ~

And we do further orderd sd Jno Murry topay to Robt Carter Esqr.~ weekly & ever[y] week ye sum of two shillings & sixpence, in Case the sd Catherine Audle shall not Nurse or take Care of the Child herself~
